'Post–rock' was a new one on me. Wikipedia describes it as "a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs." Among its best–known exponents are Talk Talk.
In the 1984 film Gremlins, the creature that starts all the trouble – name of Gizmo – is a mogwai. Mogwais don't really exist of course; the word is Cantonese for a devil or evil spirit.
Wikipedia quotes Mogwai guitarist Stuart Braithwaite: "[the name] has no significant meaning and we always intended on getting a better one, but like a lot of other things we never got round to it."
